Al Iaquinta rebounded from his recent loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in a very big way last night (Sat., Dec. 15, 2018) at UFC on FOX 31 from inside Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when he outlasted Kevin Lee in the main event rematch for a unanimous decision win.
While Lee had his moments with good top control and pestering rear-naked choke attempts, Iaquinta was the one walking forward and initiating contact. The pressure helped “Raging Al” line Lee up for brutal right hands, lead jabs, and hooks to the body. Lee did his best to keep his composure under the attacks and score his own offense, but the momentum was already lost. Iaquinta took control and even started to taunt “Motown Phenom” in the final frame while landing front kicks to the face, uppercuts from the outside, and even more right hands.
In the end, Iaquinta’s success on the feet out-shined Lee’s control on the ground. Lee may have expressed confusion after the fight when the unanimous decision went to Iaquinta, but the replay doesn’t lie.

With this performance, Iaquinta gets the big win he needed after losing a lightweight title shot to Khabib at UFC 223 back in April. Before that fight, Iaquinta had won five in a row, including four finishes, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he edged out Lee tonight in Milwaukee. After showing out like this for UFC’s final show on FOX, expect even bigger things for Iaquinta entering 2019.
