Edson Barboza put an absolute beating on rising lightweight contender Dan Hooker earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 15, 2018) at UFC on FOX 31 from inside Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by finishing “Hangman” via third-round knockout.
Barboza brutalized Hooker with whipping inside leg kicks carrying alarming force. Hooker ate as many as he could before hobbling around the cage and throwing desperation shots. Barboza smelled blood and unloaded with almost everything in his arsenal, including spinning body kicks, right hands, lead jabs, and combinations to the body.
Hooker channeled his inner “Korean Zombie” and walked through an unnecessary amount of shots before finally tumbling in the third round when Barboza landed a final punch to the body.

With this performance, Barboza gets back into the lightweight win column after losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov back at UFC 219 and then to Kevin Lee this past April. Barboza clearly still has a lot of fight left in the tank and proved yet again that he’s one of the very best strikers at 155 pounds. Another outing like this one could land the Brazilian right back in contention in 2019.
