Kevin Lee will be out for revenge later tonight (Sat., Dec. 15, 2018) at UFC on FOX 31 from inside the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when he meets Al Iaquinta in a main event rematch that will close out UFC’s deal with FOX.
The two lightweights fought way back in 2014 as Lee made his Octagon debut opposite Iaquinta at UFC 169 in New Jersey. Despite a relatively competitive affair, Iaquinta ended up walking away with the unanimous decision win and handed “Motown Phenom” his first professional loss.
In case you missed that first encounter UFC has released the full fight video replay (shown above) in advance to the rematch later tonight in Milwaukee.
Both fighters have evolved immensely since that first matchup. Iaquinta, who is fighting for just the third time since 2015, has posted a 5-2 record since his victory over “Motown Phenom.” That includes finishes over veterans Diego Sanchez, Joe Lauzon, and Ross Pearson, while losing a title shot against current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov this past April.
Lee, on the other hand, has posted an impressive 10-2 record since his debut loss to Iaquinta. “Motown Phenom” has captured finishes over notable divisional names like Edson Barboza, Michael Chiesa, and Francisco Trinaldo, while losing his own interim lightweight title shot to Tony Ferguson over a year ago.
Only time will tell if Lee has made the necessary adjustments to settle the score with Iaquinta later this evening at UFC Milwaukee. Whoever happens to escape UFC’s final showcase on FOX victorious should inch closer to title contention at 155 pounds.
