Diego Sanchez vs. Mickey Gall official for UFC 235 in Las Vegas

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Northcutt vs Gall Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Mickey Gall will get his chance to take out a mixed martial arts (MMA) namesake when he takes on veteran brawler Diego Sanchez at UFC 235 on Mar. 2 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, per a recent fight announcement.

Remember, Gall respectively called Sanchez out earlier this year by saying “Nightmare” is the one fighter he wants to face the most.

Gall, 26, is coming off a key submission win over veteran George Sullivan back at UFC Fight Night 135 this past August. While Gall gained notoriety for his dominant victory over CM Punk at UFC 203 over two years ago, the New Jersey native has produced an overall Octagon record of 4-1, with all wins coming by way of submission. If Gall is able to get past Sanchez this March it will prove that he’s finally ready to take the next step in his career and push towards top 15 competition.

Sanchez, 36, regained momentum in the 170-pound division with a decision win over Craig White at UFC 228 this past September. Before that, “Nightmare” had suffered two consecutive knockout defeats to veterans Matt Brown and Al Iaquinta. While Sanchez isn’t quite what he used to be, the veteran fighter offers the perfect combination of experience and skill to test the likes of an up-and-comer like Gall.

UFC 235 currently has no main event in place, but is scheduled to feature the UFC debut of undefeated welterweight newcomer Ben Askren and potentially the return of former UFC title challenger Nick Diaz.
