Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will shrink its UFC on FOX 31 fight card after losing the flyweight bout between Jessica-Rose Clark and Andrea Lee, previously scheduled for the FOX Sports 1 “Prelims” tomorrow night (Sat., Dec. 15, 2018) inside Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
That’s because “Jessy Jess” failed to safely cut to the 125-pound limit.
“On Friday morning UFC flyweight Jessica-Rose Clark was deemed medically unfit to compete by UFC physicians,” a UFC official told MMA Junkie. “As a result the scheduled flyweight bout with Clark and Andrea Lee has been cancelled.”
As a result, the Zak Cummings vs. Trevor Smith middleweight bout has been upgraded from the Fight Pass preliminary card to the FOX Sports 1 “Prelims” (see the revised fight card and line up here).
Lee was expected to be paid her “show” purse if she came in on weight, but was reportedly told to stop cutting once the bout was canceled. No word yet on what transpired behind the scenes, but we’ll bring you that update just as soon as we have it.
