Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, was recently reinstated by California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) after having his mixed martial arts (MMA) license revoked earlier this year.
That’s because “Bones” broke the rules, yet again, by failing his UFC 214 drug test.
After spending a boatload of cash — and sitting on the bench for more than a year — Jones is finally ready to move on, no thanks to the protracted process from both CSAC and United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
Who no longer seem to be in cahoots.
“Sometimes you have to spend a little money to make a little money,” Jones wrote on social media after cutting a $205,000 check. “I must say, for the most part I’m happy with the way things went with the California State athletic commission yesterday. I’m a trained and licensed killer ready to rock ‘n’ roll again.”
He's also a trained and licensed driver, and we all saw how that turned out.
Now that Jones is back in the 205-pound fold, he can kill two birds with one stone event. In addition to recapturing the division crown — up for grabs in the UFC 232 main event later this month in Las Vegas — he can also rid himself of longtime nemesis, Alexander Gustafsson.
