ONE Championship continues to make headlines as it wraps up its 2018 fight campaign, landing a three-year broadcast deal that will put the Singapore-based mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion into stateside homes by way of TNT, with a portion of its 24 upcoming shows streaming on B/R Live.
That’s according to a report from ESPN, which has the first event under the new agreement taking place on Jan. 19 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Recent additions to the ONE roster include UFC imports Sage Northcutt, Eddie Alvarez, and Demetrious Johnson, who are all tentatively scheduled for their in-cage debuts at some point in February or March.
MMA fans have already been preparing to find their favorite fighters in different places, as Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is leaving the FOX family and hooking up with ESPN, also in January (more on that here).
The live and free events streaming on the official ONE app are likely to be blacked out for those folks who live under the TNT umbrella of coverage. In addition, it is not yet known if the overseas cards will air live at the wee hours of the morning or during prime time on tape delay.
Update:
Update, per sources: The deal, which goes into effect on Jan. 1, calls for 24 events to air live on B/R Live, Turner’s digital platform. In addition to the live events, Turner will air shoulder programming and taped events on TNT and there is also a reality show in the works.
