Rising light heavyweight prospect Jim Crute gave fight fans their first finish of the evening earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 1, 2018) at UFC Fight Night 142 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, Australia, when he submitted veteran Paul Craig via kimura with just nine seconds left in the third round.
In what was a back-and-forth affair from the opening bell, Crute was able to pull away in the third by gaining top control and leaning on his grappling skills. He worked beautifully to gain a hold of Craig’s arm and initiate a kimura attempt that couldn’t be stopped. Craig’s arm was turned over and he was eventually forced to tap with seconds left in the fight.

With this performance, Crute extends his undefeated MMA record to 9-0 and proves that he wasn’t just a flash in the pan when he captured a knockout win on “Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series” this past July. At just 22 years of age, Crute’s future is looking pretty bright, so it will be interesting to see what UFC does with him at 205 pounds heading into next year.
