TUF 28 Finale results: Usman vs RDA live stream play-by-play updates

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is wrapping up season 28 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) on FOX Sports 1, for what may be the final time ever, thanks to the promotion's new television deal with ESPN. Not only will Dana White and Co. crown new TUF champions in the men’s heavyweight and women’s featherweight divisions, by way of Juan Espino vs. Justin Frazier and Pannie Kianzad vs. Macy Chiasson, it will also eliminate one fighter from the crowded 170-pound title chase, as Rafael dos Anjos and Kamaru Usman collide in the welterweight main event, scheduled for five rounds TONIGHT (Fri., Nov. 30, 2018) inside Pearl Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.

170 lbs.: Rafael dos Anjos vs. Kamaru Usman

Round 1: Body kick from Usman, then a glancing right hand. He ducks in for a single-leg and puts on the fence. They trade knees to the body, dos Anjos exits with an elbow. One minute in. Good exchange in the center. Usman with a right hook and he shoots off a dos Anjos low kick for a takedown into half guard. dos Anjos makes it to his feet, eats a knee on the fence. Trading blows in teh clinch. Usman transitions to a single-leg, abandons it. Trading knees. Elbow exchange and they separate. Usman fires a head kick. dos Anjos throws one of his own, then a low kick. Jumping knee this time and Usman shoots in. Two minutes to go.

Usman changes levels. Elbow from dos Anjos. He turns the corner and takes dos Anjos down into guard. Short blows from Usman to the head and body. Nice upkick by dos Anjos. 10-9 Usman.

Round 2: Hard left hands by dos Anjos, then a leg kick. Usman fires a head kick, then shoots on the fence and lands an elbow. He changes levels, no dice. Usman separates for a moment and ducks back in, landing to the body. One minute in. Dirty boxing. dos Anjos defends another level change, continues to exchange in the clinch. He completes a single-leg into guard two minutes in. dos Anjos throws elbows off of his back. Elbow connects for Usman. Two minutes to go.

dos Anjos grabs a kimura, stymied by the fence. He manages to sweep Usman with it and get back to his feet. One minute to go. Usman wades back into the clinch and lands an elbow up top. dos Anjos with a hard up-elbow on the break and now he’s on the attack. They trade for a bit until the bell. 10-9 Usman.

Round 3: Low kick from dos Anjos. Usman puts him on the fence and bangs the body. dos Anjos lands a body kick and left hand, Usman replies with a combo. Now Usman shoots in. He drags dos Anjos down a minute in. dos Anjos makes it to his feet, eating shots along the way. Hard right hand by Usman. Usman backs him to the fence once again and shoots in. He takes dos Anjos down into half guard. dos Anjos grabs onto another kimura. He loses it and looks to get to his knees. He does so and looks for his own takedown. Two minutes to go.

Usman uses a cradle to counter the takedown attempt and force dos Anjos to his knees. dos Anjos makes it back up, still pressed against the cage. They trade body shots. Knees from Usman. One minute to go. They separate. Head kick attempt from dos Anjos. Hard straight left met by an Usman right cross. Usman lands another right hand and jab. One more shot before the bell. 10-9 Usman.

Round 4: Head kick attempt from dos Anjos. Straight left connects. Usman lands a nice uppercut. dos Anjosleg kick. Another low kick met by an Usman left hand. Usman elbow and right hand. Left hook. He’s opening up on the fence. He hits an easy takedown into guard. dos Anjos goes to his knees two minutes in, then looks for deep half guard. Butterfly guard now. Usman retakes half guard and lands ground-and-pound. dos Anjos works his way to the feet with two minutes to go.

Usman drags him back down right away and lands more punches and elbows. Controlling dos Anjos with a cradle. Back to guard, right hands from Usman. dos Anjos tries deep half guard and gets blasted with hammerfists. Elbows landing. 10-8 Usman.

Round 5: Usman lands a 1-2, tries an axe kick, rips dos Anjos with punches on the fence. He ties up. dos Anjos back up, back down. One hook in for Usman. dos Anjos struggles back to his feet, eats uppercuts and comes back with an elbow. Two minutes in. Trading shots inside. Usman changes levels and hits another takedown. dos Anjos goes for a desperate guillotine, but he’s on the wrong side. He abandons it. Two minutes to go.

Hammerfists from Usman. Elbows from Usman. dos Anjos lands one off his back. One minute to go. Dos Anjos tries for an underhook, can’t get it. Elbows from Usman. He keeps thumping until the bell. 10-9 Usman.

265 lbs.: Juan Espino vs. Justin Frazier

Round 1: Espino goes for a takedown in the opening seconds and drags Frazier down into half guard. Espino looking for the back against the fence. Frazier working to stands, Espino staying heavy. One minute in. Good left hands. Now both hooks in. Punches and hammerfists. Two minutes in. Espino looks for a palm-to-palm choke, can’t get it. Frazier slips out the back door and Espino takes him to the fence. Knee from Espino on the break and he shoots again, hitting a knee tap into side control. Two minutes to go.

145 lbs.: Pannie Kianzad vs. Macy Chiasson

Round 1: Chiasson steps right into the pocket and they start trading. Kianzad shoots, denied and Chiasson puts her on the fence. One minute in. Knee from Kianzad. Chiasson answers in kind. Chiasson looks for a single-leg, denied. Two minutes in. Chiasson still staying heavy, answers a knee with a right hand. Two minutes to go.

Kianzad just can’t get off the fence. Knees from Chiasson, who hauls Kianzad to the other end of the cage. Jockeying for position. Right hands land for Kianzad, who finally separates and lands a 1-2 with a minute to go. Head kick from Chiasson, who stuffs a shot and immediately takes the back. Full body triangle. Kianzad survives the choke. 10-9 Chiasson.

Round 2: Chiasson immediately puts her on the fence again. Kianzad doesn’t seem to have an answer. Kianzad reverses. Short left hands and a hook as they separate. Chiasson wades forward and drops her with a 1-2, settling in guard. One minute in. Kianzad recovers and gets in deep on a belly-down armbar, only for Chiasson to escape and retake the back. Looking to crank. Now she worms her elbow under Kianzad’s chin, pins down an arm BJ Penn-style, and draws the tap.

Final result: Chiasson def. Kianzad by submission (rear naked choke)


135 lbs.: Bryan Caraway vs. Pedro Munhoz

Round 1: They meet in the center and trade. Caraway shoots, rebuffed, lands a right hand. Both landing punches. Munhoz firing leg kicks. Caraway shoots once again, puts Munhoz on the fence. Munhoz separates a minute in. Back to trading punches. They’re both landing good shots. Lead right by Caraway, 1-2. Low kick lands. Munhoz pops him with a jab. Another jab. Caraway lands a lead right, eats one in return and fails to take Munhoz down twice. Jab exchange. Two minutes in. Bak to slugging. Munhoz lands a body kick and unloads. Caraway shoots, stuffed, avoids a knee. A body kick drops Caraway to his knees and a few right hands polish him off. That looked early.

Final result: Munhoz def. Caraway by TKO (body kick and punches)


185 lbs.: Edmen Shahbazyan vs. Darren Stewart

Round 1: Shahbazyan hits an early takedown, then moves to the back when Stewart stands. He continues to drive, lands a knee. Shahbazyan continues to look for the back. One minute in. One hook in on a standing Stewart. Knee from Shahbazyan. Two minutes in. Two minutes in. Shahbazyan just staying glued to Stewart. Head kick from Shahbazyan on the break. Shahbazyan ducks a right hand and clinches up, looking for a trip before taking Stewart to the fence. Two minutes to go.

Short elbow from Stewart as they separate. Shahbazyan shoots on the fence. Over-unders. Stewart lands a nice elbow with a minute to go. Stewart catches a head kick, then pursues, blasting Shahbazyan with a right hand. Knee inside, elbows upstairs. Shahbazyan lands a knee inside. He shoots, takes Stewart down. 10-9 Shahbazyan.

Round 2: 1-2 from Shahbazyan. Shahbazyan shoots and takes Stewart to the fence. He gets Stewart down a minute in. Stewart gets to his knees. Stewart works his way to his feet, still pressed against the fence. Knee from Stewart. Tow minutes to go. Ref wants more action. Knees to the thigh by Shahbazyan. He changes levels to get in o Stewart’s hips. Two minutes to go.

Shahbazyan still trying to wrench him to the mat. Stewart hits the witch, but Shahbazyan looks for the back. Full back control. One minute to go. Stewart gets to his feet. Good knee by Shahbazyan. Another knee. 10-9 Shahbazyan.

Round 3: Stewart lands a straight right. Another and Shabazyan shoots, taking Stewart to the mat. One minute in. Stewart makes it to his feet and blasts with an elbow, then sprawls on a takedown. Another huge elbow and a knee. Stewart unloading on the fence. Shabazyan clinches up. Two minutes to go. Jockeying for position. Short elbow from Stewart. Ref breaks them up with two minutes to go.

Stewart takes Shabazyan down when he tries to clinch up then, looks to pound out a turtling Shabazyan. Shabazyan goes for a leglock. Shabazyan turtles again and Stewart stalks him. Shabazyan ducks a right hand for another takedown. He runs the pipe for another takedown in the waning seconds. 10-9 Stewart.

Final result: Shahbazyan def. Stewart by split decision


125 lbs.: Ji Yeon Kim vs. Antonina Shevchenko

Round 1: Combination from Shevchenko. Kim fires a straight right, eats a 1-2 from Shevchenko. Side kick upstairs a minute in. They tie up and Shevchenko lands knees. Kim fires punches inside. Two minutes in. Front kick from Shevchenko. She gets double underhooks on the fence. Two minutes to go.

Kim pressing her against the fence. Shevchenko reverses. Ref splits them up with a minute to go. Counters connect for Shevchenko. Shevchenko hits a head-and-arm throw into scarf hold. 10-9 Shevchenko.

Round 2: Low kick from Shevchenko. Counter punching combo. Counter right soon after. Kim takes her to the fence after avoiding a spinning elbow. Knees to the thigh from Kim. Shevchenko lands her own knee and reverses. Ref separates them. Two minutes in. Hard counter combo connects for Shevchenko as Kim presses forward. Jabs connect for Shevchenko, then a front kick. They tie up and Shevchenko lands a knee to the body. Two minutes to go.

Shevchenko puts Kim on the fence and goes to work with knees. Nasty elbow on the break. Right hand from Kim as Shevchenko spins. One minute to go. Front kick to the face and a check hook from Shevchenko. Shevchenko body kick. She clinches and puts Kim on the fence. 10-9 Shevchenko.

Round 3: Shevchenko catches a kick and takes Kim to the mat, landing on top in guard. One minute in. Kim holding onto a wrist, keeping Shevchenko close. Two minutes in. Shevchenko stands over her, blasts Kim with a pair of illegal knees as Kim stands. Kim says she’s fine, so they continue on the feet. Kim fires a right and Shevchenko puts her on teh cage. Two minutes to go.

Kim throws knees with her back on the fence. They separate. 3-2 from Shevchenko. Knees from Shevchenko in the clinch as Kim takes her to the fence. Another hard knee and jab on the break. Round 1: Low kicks from Glenn to start. Head kick follows up. Body kick connects. Aguilar lands one of this own, avoids a head kick and left hand. Glenn buzzes Aguilar a minute in with a straight left. Aguilar sticks a right downstairs and eats a left hand. Two minutes in. Aguilar digs to the body and Glenn shoots in against the fence. They separate. Low kicks from Glenn. Aguilar stuns Glenn with a counter left, but doesn’t follow up. Two minutes to go.

2-1 from Aguilar. Body shot. Glenn lands a straight left, Aguilar bangs the body and lands an overhand right. One minute to go. Aguilar lands a right to the body. Glenn lands a right hook and eats a body kick in return. 10-9 Aguilar.

Round 2: Glenn stalking in the early going. One minute in. Aguilar lands a body shot and Glenn shoots. Aguilar shucks him off. Trading kicks in the center. Aguilar digs a right to the body. Body kick. Lead left lands for Glenn. Two minutes in. Aguilar lands a right downstairs. Glenn walks into an uppercut while trying to clinch. Check hook catches Glenn. Glenn tries a head kick. Body kick from Aguilar with two minutes to go.

Aguilar pops him with a jab. Right hand to the body. They exchange at close range. 1-2 from Glenn. Aguilar rips the body, then cracks Glenn with a left hook on the break. One minute to go. Round 3: Aguilar lands a long right to the body and briefly clinches. Another right to the body. Good jab and right hand downstairs. Glenn with a low kick. Heavy left hand from Glenn, his best punch in a while. 1-2 from Aguilar. Overhand right. One minute in. Leg kick from Glenn, short right hand and a pair of heavy elbows inside. Head kick by Glenn. Glenn still firing head kicks. Low kick exchange. 1-2 connects for Glenn. Two minute sin. Glenn left hand rattles Aguilar, then a body kick lands. HUGE overhand right drops Glenn. A series of lefts drop Glenn once again when he tries to tie up and Aguilar continues pounding. Two minutes to go.

Elbows from Aguilar. Left hands. Aguilar moves to the back, then mount. Glenn scrambles to his knees. He manages to get to half guard. Aguilar continuing to do damage. Aguilar cracks Glenn with a right hand when Glenn tries to stand. They pause to pit Glenn’s mouthpiece back in. Aguilar trips him up with an inside leg kick. Suddenly, an elbow buckles Aguilar, who shoots in for a takedown. Glenn hits a hip toss in return. Great fight. 10-9 Aguilar.

Final result: Aguilar def. Glenn by unanimous decision


125 lbs.: Joseph Benavidez vs. Alex Perez

Round 1: They trade body blows to kick things off. Counter right lands for Perez, who catches a kick. Perez catches Benavidez in a standing arm triangle, can’t secure it. Body kick lands for Perez a minute in. Benavidez bangs the body. Again after catching the kick, then a shot upstairs. He tries a knee tap without success. He shoots against the fence two minutes in. Knees from Perez. They separate. Perez left hand met by a Benavidez body shot. Low kick lands for Benavidez. Body shot. Low kick. Two minutes to go.

Low kick exchange, left hook from Benavidez, who muscles him to the mat and starts unloading on Perez. The ref steps in, puts hands on the fighters, then thinks better of it. Benavidez thinks it’s over, but it allows Perez to shoot in. Benavidez threatening a guillotine from the front headlock. Now pounding on a turtling Perez and there’s the finish.

Final result: Benavidez def. Perez by TKO (punches)


265 lbs.: Maurice Greene vs. Michel Batista

Round 1: Low kick from Greene. Green sticks a right downstairs, switching stance. Batista ducks a left hand and shoots. One minute in. Browne elbows from Greene. Batista pulls him off the fence and takes him down into guard. Greene quickly locks up a triangle choke and Batista hesitantly taps.

Final result: Greene def. Batista by submission (triangle choke)


145 lbs.: Leah Letson vs. Julija Stoliarenko

Round 1: Stoliarenko opens with a leg kick and they trade in the center. They’re going at it right away. Stoliarenko tries to spin, lands a right hand. Hard straight left by Letson. One minute in. Side kick knocks Stoliarenko down, Letson doesn’t pounce. Right hand and 1-2 from Letson. Stoliarenko lands a left, eats a right hook. Two minutes in. Letson low kick, Stoliarenko jab. Counter 2-3 from Stoliarenko. Glancing hook. Two minutes to go.

Stoliarenko tries a head kick, lands a jab, eats a straight left and Letson ties up. Letson separates and connects with an overhand left. One minute to go. Stoliarenko steps in with punches. Body kick lands for her as Letson tries a low kick. 10-9 Letson.

Round 2: Stoliarenko tries to spin as she eats a leg kick. Quick exchange near the fence. Stoliarenko catches a kick, can’t use it. One minute in. Side kick connects. She shoots from way too far out, easily denied. Body kick connects. Two minutes in. High kick just misses. Letson pretty passive so far. Letson tries a body kick, avoids a flurry. Stoliarenko with a better shot, pulls guard. Letson lets her up with two minutes to go.

Letson avoids a kick and they trade power punches. One minute to go. Letson fires kicks, blocked. She steps into the clinch and lands on the break. Letson buzzes her with a straight left at the bell. 10-9 Stoliarenko.

Round 3: Slow start to the round, more feints than punches. Counter left lands for Letson a minute in. Good trade in the center. Stoliarenko shoots, completes an outside trip and jumps guard on a guillotine when Letson scrambles up. Letson gives a thumbs-up and waits it out. Still on top in guard. Two minutes to go.

Stoliarenko holding on to Letson. Short punches from Letson. One minute to go. Back to their feet. Letson goes for her own spinning attack and walks into a right hand. Straight left lands for her. Body kick connects. 10-9 Letson.

Final result: Letson def. Stoliarenko by split decision


155 lbs.: Darrell Horcher vs. Roosevelt Roberts

Round 1: Quick punching exchange to start. High kick from Roberts. Horcher answers in kind. One minute in. Roberts fires a body kick near the fence. 1-2 attempt. Horcher counters a body kick with an overhand left. Roberts pops him with a straight right. Two minutes in. Roberts enters the clinch with a knee, avoids a throw, eats an elbow. Lead right from Roberts. Two minutes to go.

Another hard right hand by Roberts and Horcher blitzes him. A couple of clean connections. Right hand by Roberts. Again. Horcher gets double underhooks and puts him on the fence. Horcher tries some foot stomps. Roberts suddenly wraps his arm around Horcher’s neck and hits his favorite palm-to-palm guillotine, forcing a frantic tap.

Final result: Roberts def. Horcher by submission (guillotine choke)


170 lbs.: Tim Means vs. Ricky Rainey

Round 1: Means connects with a straight left right off the bat and the two start slugging. They promptly stop slugging when Rainey pokes Means in the eye. Both of them connect in the center. Rainey finding the mark with his left hook, gets dragged to the mat despite Rainey blatantly grabbing the fence. Rainey tries to stand, tripped back down, and Means simply starts pounding and refusing to stop until Rainey goes limp.

Final result: Means def. Rainey by KO (punches)


135 lbs.: Raoni Barcelos vs. Chris Gutierrez

Round 1: Gutierrez flicks out a head kick. Both looking for leg kicks. Barcelos tries to counter one with a left hook. One minute in. Barcelos presses forward with a combination, doesn’t connect. Gutierrez really focusing on that lead leg. Barcelos still can’t reach him. Two minutes in. 1-2 from Gutierrez. More tapping low kicks. Barcelos lands a 2-1 and trips Gutierrez to the mat. Two minutes to go.

Barcelos settles in guard, chipping away with right hands. Gutierrez keeping his legs active. Barcelos stands over him, eats an upkick and passes to side control. One minute to go. Gutierrez denies an attempt to mount. Barcelos back to standing over him and Gutierrez gets to his feet, firing kicks. 10-9 Barcelos.

Round 2: Barcelos showing a bit more aggression. More kicks from Gutierrez and Barcelos shoots, pulling him off the cage and dumping him on his back. Elbows from the Brazilian a minute in. Barcelos sporting a cut from an elbow, trying to make space to strike. Gutierrez goes to his knees to try to stand and Barcelos goes to his back, right next to his own corner. Two minutes in. Gutierrez regains half guard. Bigger elbows from Barcelos. Two minutes to go.

Elbows and right hands piling up. Back to guard. Gutierrez trying to kick him off, eats more punches. Gutierrez gives up his back under the attack and Barcelos instantly forces a tap via rear naked choke.
