Knockout! Watch Francis Ngannou score 44-second finish over Curtis Blaydes at UFC Beijing

New, comments

Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Francis Ngannou got back into the win column earlier today (Sat., Nov. 24, 2018) at UFC Fight Night 141 live on Fight Pass from inside Cadillac Arena in Beijing, China, when he put a stop to rising contender Curtis Blaydes with a vicious TKO victory just 44 seconds into the first round.

Needing a big finish to regain the divisional momentum he’s lost over his last two Octagon appearances, Ngannou came out on fire today at UFC Beijing. After hurting Blaydes early with a powerful jab, “Predator” scored a monster overhand right counter that dropped his heavyweight counterpart to the canvas. A few follow-up punches to the head prohibited Blaydes from regaining his composure and ultimately forced the referee’s hand just 44 seconds into the main event.

With this performance, Ngannou earns back some of the magic he relinquished against Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis earlier this year. The 32-year-old heavyweight contender showed yet again that he possesses legendary power in each and every one of his punches, and proved that he can get past a tough wrestler like Blaydes. This victory isn’t going to earn Ngannou another shot at UFC gold just yet, but it will help him get back on track entering 2019.
