“What would you do for a Klondike bar?”
Would you box Conor McGregor? Punch-punch-punch!
Would you post nonsensical clickbait? Click-click-click!
Now that Floyd Mayweather is too busy training to pay attention to the theatrics of UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, the 30 year-old grappler is forced to troll elsewhere, so I guess it only makes sense to come full circle.
At least now we understand his obsession with boxing.
“As for the fight against Conor under boxing rules, this is a fight we are interested in,” Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, told the Russian media. “Khabib showed that he is able to beat the best strikers of mixed martial arts. He said this before, but few believed it. However, after strong victories over Michael Johnson, Edson Barboza, and Conor, people begin to believe.”
Nurmagomedov (27-0) has only been outstruck once in 11 trips to the Octagon, and that was by Gleison Tibau back in summer 2012. But most of “The Eagle’s” offense comes from top position, as the Sambo master has 52 takedowns during that same span.
I guess his newfound confidence on the feet came during his five-round jab-a-thon opposite the flat-footed Al Iaquinta earlier this year in New York, followed by the knockdown Nurmagomedov scored in his submission win over McGregor at UFC 229.
Is it time to see “The Eagle” take his talents to this upstart boxing promotion?
