Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson finally came face-to-face earlier tonight (Fri., Nov. 2, 2018) live from New York City for UFC 232’s first official press conference (video replay here).
The two light heavyweights are scheduled to square off in a rematch for the light heavyweight title at UFC 232 on Dec. 29 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. They’ll be fighting for the vacant 205-pound, as current champion Daniel Cormier is scheduled to be stripped before the bout.
After exchanging a few words on stage about their first encounter back at UFC 165 — a meeting that Jones won via unanimous decision — Jones and Gustafsson squared off for their first official staredown (shown above courtesy of UFC).
Jones, who is returning from a 15-month suspension after failing his second United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) drug test, is already considered one of the best fighters in mixed martial arts (MMA) history, but another victory over a perennial contender like “Mauler” will cement the former champion as the best ever.
Fight fans are crossing their fingers that nothing happens between now and Dec. 29, as “Bones” hasn’t stepped foot inside of the Octagon since July of last year.
