Alexandre Pantoja locked down his eighth career submission win earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 17, 2018) at UFC Fight Night 140 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Parque Roca Arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina, when he choked out Ulka Sasaki in the first round via rear-naked choke.
Pantoja found himself on his back early, but eventually grabbed a hold of Sasaki’s leg. That’s all that Pantoja needed to transition to back control and threaten with a rear-naked choke. Sasaki fought valiantly to remove the arm from his throat, but the Brazilian’s squeeze was just too tight.

With this performance, Pantoja improves his UFC record to 4-1 and locks down his second win since losing to Dustin Ortiz earlier this year. Considering Sasaki is no slouch in the flyweight division, this victory should provide Pantoja a nice boost heading into 2019. And with a somewhat washed out division around him, Pantoja could enter title contention with another win or two, especially if they’re finishes like this one.
