UFC has already offered Cowboy Cerrone an ‘exciting’ opponent at 155

Following his first round armbar win over “Platinum” Mike Perry (watch it here), Donald Cerrone shared some big aspirations with the Pepsi Center crowd.

”I don’t care who, I just want to know when!” he said. “I’m coming after that belt. Khabib, I’m coming. Cowboy’s back.”

The win put “Cowboy” on more solid ground after a shaky stint that saw him go 1-4 since 2017. Cerrone credited the win to his new family addition.

”Having a baby changed me, I knew what I was fighting for before,” he said. “I never knew before, but I felt it, man. It was like ‘Haww, you ain’t taking food out of my kid’s family,’ no way, no how.”

Afterward at the post-fight media scrum, Cerrone confirmed he was done with welterweight and looking to make a title run at lightweight.

”155, New Year’s card, that’d be cool,” he told reporters (video via MMA Fighting). “I’ll fight on Fight Pass, I don’t give a s**t, I’ll be the first fight of the night. 155, let’s go, let’s make a run, let’s do this. Let’s train hard, be focused, go get a motherf**king belt.””

”I’m 182 right now, that’s what I walked in here for fight week,” Cerrone explained. “This is heavy for me. When I’m 155, usually I’m at 176, 177. So I’m going to have to hire a dietitian because that last 5 pounds sucks, but I’m going to do it right. It’s time. It’s time to get my ducks in a row.”

Interestingly enough, the UFC already had an idea for Cerrone’s return to 155 ready to go.

”There is someone, they already came up and told me,” he revealed with a grin. “There’s your clickbait. You son of a bitch, you ain’t gonna get me to say it. Not gonna happen. They told me the who for once in my life first. 155. It’s very exciting. Guy’s very exciting. You’ll like it. You’ll all like it.”

Any ideas who he may be talking about, Maniacs?
