If Maycee Barber is in fact “The Future” then the future is bright.
The 20-year-old strawweight shined earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 10, 2018) at UFC Fight Night 139 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, when she absolutely obliterated Hannah Cifers in a bloody second-round TKO win.
Barber was making her UFC debut in her home state but didn’t show many jitters. She was able to control most of the action and land the more powerful shots throughout, but it were her elbows in the clinch and on the ground that really did Cifers in. Barber cemented her efforts in the second round by earning top control after a scramble and cutting Cifers up with more elbows until the referee stepped in.

With this performance, Barber extends her undefeated MMA record to 6-0 — having just turned pro a whopping 17 months ago — and capitalizes on a huge spot in her UFC debut. Barber called out fellow strawweight prospect Mackenzie Dern in her post-fight interview so we’ll see if she gets her wish.
