ONE Championship continued it’s collection of mixed martial arts (MMA) talent earlier this week when it signed former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate. But unlike fellow acquisitions Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez, Tate will be utilized outside of the cage.

Tate, who retied from MMA back in 2016, will step in as ONE’s vice president. It’s a tremendous opportunity for “Cupcake” and her young family, and one that she is ready attack head on.

“It’ll be a perfect fit,” Tate said during a recent appearance on Sirius XM Fight Nation (shown below). “It’s gonna be an awesome adventure.”

As one of the more recognizable faces in MMA today, Tate’s main role as ONE vice president will be to serve as the promotion’s main brand ambassador. Pair that with the opportunity to serve as a cageside color commentator and it’s easy to see why Tate decided to take her talents overseas.

“I know those are the two, really important roles,” Tate said. “But again this was part of the reason why I was going to make this trip over, so that Chatri and I can really sit down and hash it out. I thought we would wait to make the announcement until we kind of had that. But I’m ready for this. I’m not looking backward, I’m looking forward. And whatever it entails, I know that I’m ready for it.”

In addition to her promising new job description, Tate confirmed that she’s getting paid quite handsomely for her commitment.

“I wanted to move to Singapore and be a part of this not knowing how financially beneficial it would be,” Tate said. “But let me tell you that this is definitely an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. When I first reached out, I didn’t imagine it would amount to this amount of profitability. But when he made the offer, it was like, ‘Oh yeah, I can’t pass this opportunity up.’”

With Tate in their pocket and “Mighty Mouse” and Alvarez ready to lead a growing roster, ONE looks like it’s primed for a massive 2019 campaign. Having “Cupcake” alongside to promote the events and share her MMA knowledge on the microphone is just icing on the cake.
