It’s officially ... official.
As predicted earlier this week, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov made weight for his UFC 229 pay-per-view (PPV) title fight opposite Conor McGregor, which takes place this Saturday night (Oct. 6, 2018) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Have a look:
Both fighters hit their marks without incident at the UFC 229 early weigh ins (full results here) and will return later tonight at 8 p.m. ET for the ceremonial festivities, which is basically an excuse to have everyone stare down and act super tough.
It should be noted that former interim champion, Tony Ferguson, came in at championship weight (155) for his Anthony Pettis fight, just in case UFC needed a late replacement if either Nurmagomedov or McGregor missed their respective mark.
Here’s McGregor on the scale:
The mixed martial arts (MMA) media seems to be divided as to who actually wins tomorrow night’s showdown, as Nurmagomedov has never faced a striker the caliber of “Notorious,” while McGregor has yet to grapple with a monster like “The Eagle.”
We’ll know soon enough.
It's weird to see both Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson make weight for the same card. I feel like we've dreamed of that moment many times before. Too bad they're no fighting each other, maybe one day. #UFC229— Danny Segura (@dannyseguratv) October 5, 2018
