When you’re as big and famous as former lightweight champion Conor McGregor (and move the pay-per-view needle like he can), you can decide if and when you’re going to do mandatory media appearances to hype up your next fight.
And the champ-champ does whatever the f—k he wants.
So, in the absence of McGregor, the promotion will handle the majority of the pre-fight marketing for his Khabib Nurmagomedov title fight, headlining UFC 229 this Saturday night (Oct. 6, 2018) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
That includes the promotion’s “Bad Blood” special that recently aired on FOX Sports 1, taking a closer look at why “Notorious” and “The Eagle” are mortal enemies and not just a couple of dudes throwing hands.
Things got personal when McGregor’s teammate, Artem Lobov, talked all sorts of junk about the undefeated Dagestani, then got a receipt for said junk during an impromptu hotel slap attack (video). That prompted McGregor to launch his Barclays bus attack and well ... you know the rest.
