Bellator MMA held a special media gathering to promote its Heavyweight Grand Prix semifinal matches, featuring the fighters headlining both Bellator events this weekend. Bellator 207 at Mohegan Sun Arena on tomorrow night (Oct. 12, 2018) will see Matt Mitrione (13-5) face Ryan Bader (25-5), while Bellator 208 on Saturday evening (Oct. 13, 2018) at Nassau Coliseum will see Chael Sonnen (31-15-1) face Fedor Emelianenko (37-5, 1 NC).
Bader — the promotion’s Light Heavyweight champion — will attempt to extend his win streak to six in Uncasville, Conn., and stamp his place in the tournament finale on January 26, 2019. To do so he’ll need to best the hard-hitting Mitrione, who riding a four-fight streak of his own, including a knockout of the aforementioned Fedor.
The next night in Uniondale, N.Y., the other half of the bracket will be set as two men with legends larger than their bodies collide. “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko is the former Pride FC Heavyweight champion who held a nearly decade-long unbeaten streak. “The American Gangster” Sonnen is known for his gift of gab, but has also beaten a “Who’s Who” of fighters like “Rampage” Jackson, “Shogun” Rua, Michael Bisping and Wanderlei Silva to name just a few.
Watch the main eventers for both nights face off in the video embedded above.
MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire Bellator 207 and 208 fight cards airing on Paramount Network, with the main card start time for both nights at 9 p.m. ET.
