Derrick Lewis scored a thrilling, come-from-behind win over Alexander Volkov at UFC 229 last weekend in Las Vegas (watch it), but for every minute that came before it, he looked completely outclassed by the towering “Drago.”
And let’s not forget the raging dumpster fire that was his Francis Ngannou fight.
That’s probably why “Black Beast” is such a massive underdog against the favored Daniel Cormier, clocking in at +500 in the opening lines against -800 for “DC,” according to our fiscal friends over at Bovada.
Cormier has yet to lose a round at heavyweight and was last seen melting Stipe Miocic at the UFC 226 pay-per-view (PPV) event back in July (highlights). Add to that his championship gas tank — as well as his Olympic-caliber wrestling — and it’s hard to give Lewis more than a puncher’s chance.
Which is a pretty good chance when you consider this shattered record.
Cormier and Lewis will headline the upcoming UFC 230 fight card (see it) on Sat., Nov. 3, 2018 inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. The winner is expected to defend the title against Brock Lesnar in early 2019.
