Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Anthony Pettis and Michael Chiesa are being targeted to fight on the UFC 223 card in Brooklyn, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reports.

Both sides have verbally agreed to the bout, which would be another great lightweight contest on a card scheduled to be headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson.

13th-ranked Anthony Pettis has been struggling to recapture anything like the form that made him “Showtime”, the UFC lightweight champion and a burgeoning star in 2013 and 2014. Since then, he has gone 2-5, his most recent fight a hard-fought Fight of the Night (FOTN) loss to Dustin Poirier. Michael Chiesa also lost his last fight, a controversial stoppage to Kevin Lee. Prior to that, Chiesa, ranked 9th, had racked up three wins in a row. Chiesa is known as a dominant top-control grappler, with seven wins via rear-naked choke, while Pettis is known for his flashy kicks, ability to escape the back mount, and slick submissions.

Great quote from Jon Fitch to a Congress staffer:

Eddie Alvarez ROASTED this fan by dragging up an old tweet the guy had made about Britney Spears.

Young Tyson definitely has his father’s style of movement.

The man himself had awe-inspiring speed and power.

McGregor laughed at Mayweather’s in-cage teaser.

Fun slo-mo video of Anthony Johnson sparring with Volkan Oezdemir:

This compilation of Stipe Miocic being silly is pretty great.

Stipe... what did you do, Stipe?

Combat sports this weekend go far beyond the UFC event.

Great highlight of LFA champion Than Le from his training partner Ryan Hall:

This is just unnecessary:

Submissions for all the jiu-jitsu nerds out there.

If you haven’t heard it yet, our interview with Nate Quarry was my favorite yet. I had never heard his story before, and he got into some deep stuff about the motivation he took from watching his dad collect his last paycheck, his personal quest for truth after being raised in a cult, and getting his spine fused in the middle of his career.
