Knockout! Watch Jacare Souza finish Derek Brunson via head kick at UFC on FOX 27

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza got back on track earlier tonight (Sat., Jan. 27, 2018) at UFC on FOX 27 live on big FOX from inside the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, when he delivered a first-round head kick knockout at the expense of power puncher Derek Brunson.

Both men tested their punching power early, while Souza scored some clean counter right hands. Brunson was able to defend a takedown, but his chin did not hold up when Jacare blasted him with a perfectly-timed head kick. Brunson was stunned, couldn’t even turn himself around, and allowed Souza to land a few more insurance shots before the referee jumped in for the stoppage.

With this performance, Souza rebounds after getting finished by current UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker back in April. Brunson isn’t quite an elite contender at 185 pounds, but this is a huge win for the 38-year-old Souza, especially coming off a nine-month layoff and pectoral surgery.

Chris Weidman should be a legitimate candidate to fight Souza his next time out.
