Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) officials announced earlier today (Fri., Jan. 26, 2018) that two exciting matchups will take place at UFC on FOX 29 on April 14 from inside Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz., as lightweight brawler Justin Gaethje takes on perennial contender Dustin Poirier and former interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit takes on fan favorite Matt Brown.

Gaethje, 29, is coming off his first professional loss after getting knocked out by former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 218 this past December. In just two Octagon appearances the former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) champion has become one of the most exhilarating fighters in UFC today.

Poirier, 29, is riding high after earning a TKO stoppage over former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis back at UFC Fight Night 120. “The Diamond” has lost just once since moving up to 155 pounds in 2015 and would be knocking on the doorstep of a title shot if he could put an end to Gaethje in Glendale.

In the other premier matchup, Condit, 33, will look to get back in the win column after dropping a unanimous decision loss to Neil Magny at UFC 219. It was the first time in 16 months that “Natural Born Killer” had competed so it’s likely that Condit shook off the cobwebs and will come out firing against Brown this April.

Brown, 37, recently finished veteran Diego Sanchez via knockout (elbow) back at UFC Fight Night 120 to claim his first victory since 2015. The wily veteran has hinted at retirement in the past, but will keep it going in an ultra-anticipated throwdown with Condit.
