Expecting to see Ronda Rousey this weekend at WWE’s Royal Rumble?
Don’t hold your breath.
Despite recent rumors that Rousey is nearing a deal with WWE and could make her debut this Sunday at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) event in Philadelphia, Pa., the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion confirmed earlier this week that she hasn’t signed on for anything.
“I appreciate everyone’s confidence, but I’m actually going to Colombia right now to finishing shooting ‘Mile 22,’” Rousey told TMZ Sports (shown above) when asked about appearing at Royal Rumble. “I won’t be back until mid-February. But I appreciate you saying that, and it’s a real honor to hear it.”
“I haven’t signed anything regardless to what anyone’s said,” Rousey added. “No pen to paper for me.”
Considering Rousey is currently in Colombia for her latest movie shoot it’s safe to assume that the mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar isn’t going to make any surprise appearances this weekend at the Royal Rumble.
And in case fans are holding out hope that Rousey’s “movie shoot” is a ploy to make her WWE arrival even more spectacular, the former UFC champion posted the following picture to Instagram to prove she is in fact out of the country.
At this point, Rousey is more likely to make her WWE debut this April at Wrestlemania 34. She has already expressed her interest to compete inside of the ring, has begun training at the WWE performance center, and has even cut a promo for the Mae Young Classic back in September.
If Rousey does in fact sign the dotted line and becomes part of the WWE universe her in-ring appearances will most likely be few and far between, especially with movie shoots in South America.
