Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to the pay-per-view (PPV) market last weekend with the UFC 220: "Miocic vs. Ngannou" mixed martial arts (MMA) extravaganza, which took place last Sat. night (Jan. 20, 2018) inside TD Garden Arena in Boston, Massachusetts.

UFC 220 was headlined by the heavyweight title fight pitting reigning division kingpin Stipe Miocic opposite terrifying division power puncher Francis Ngannou. Miocic needed all 25 minutes, but retained his belt by outworking "The Predator" in "Beantown" (video).

Elsewhere on the card, Daniel Cormier defended his light heavyweight strap against up-and-coming bruiser Volkan Oezdemir, pounding out "No Time" in the second stanza (replay). Like Miocic, the victory earned him another spot in the promotion's pound-for-pound list.

Here's how the rankings work, courtesy of UFC.com:

Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.

Take a look at what the latest rankings field looks like courtesy of UFC.com. Note: (+/- = movement in rankings, *NR = Not previously ranked).

Like Jon Jones before them, both Anderson Silva and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira have been removed from the rankings as a result of their provisional suspensions from United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

You can expect these standings to change -- particularly in the middleweight division -- around this time next week, as the promotion is set to uncork UFC on FOX 27: "Jacare vs. Brunson 2" this Sat. night (Jan. 27, 2018) inside Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina (more on that fight card here).
