If at first you don’t succeed, wait two years and try again.
Former WWE champion CM Punk — real name Phil Brooks — is expected to return to the Octagon at some point later this year after coming up short in his UFC debut in the second half of 2016.
Punk, 39, got mangled and strangled by Mickey Gall in the first round of their welterweight affair, which came with a $500,000 price tag, but the aging grappler is different than most regular dudes like you and me.
That’s according to promotion president Dana White.
“I like that guy, he’s a good dude,” White told the Associated Press. “He wants one more. He wants to get another shot. I’m going to give it to him. He’s a completely different case than most normal human beings, so I’m going to give him another shot.”
An opponent has yet to be revealed.
Punk (0-1) signed with the world’s largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion in Nov. 2014, but struggled to stay healthy and prolonged his Octagon debut to the point where most fans didn't care once it finally happened.
Any fans out there in MMA land still on Team Punk?
