Daniel Cormier defended his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight title last night (Sat., Jan. 20, 2018) after defeating Volkan Oezdimer via second round technical knockout at UFC 220 in Boston, Massachusetts.

And while there is no proof that former division champion and “DC”s” biggest rival, Jon Jones, watched the title fight, he was reminded of the outcome shortly after the dust settled in “Beantown,”

Though “Bones” didn’t directly talks about Cormier’s win, “Bones” told a fight fan tweeting to tell him he’s still the champ, that big things are coming.

That’s a pretty bold and scary statement, considering Jones has pretty much done all he needs to do in the 205-pound weight class, including defeating Cormier on two separate occasions, most recently taking him out at UFC 214 via knockout.

Of course, when his run at bigger things begins remains to be seen, as Jones is still embroiled in a battle with United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) after he failed a post-fight drug test following UFC 214, which prompted the promotion to re-gift Cormier the 205-pound belt.

That said, things seem to be looking good for the former division champion, though no official word regarding how long he will be suspended has been given.
