Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to the airwaves last Sunday night (Jan. 14, 2018) with the UFC Fight Night 124 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on FOX Sports 1, which featured a featherweight main event between Jeremy Stephens and DooHo Choi as they battled for a spot in the 145-pound title chase.

“Lil’ Heathen” won by technical knockout, which earned “The Korean Superboy” a 30-day suspension from the Missouri Office of Athletics (via MMA Fighting). Joining him in the 30-day club was Emil Meek, who suffered multiple cuts in his decision loss to streaking welterweight Kamaru Usman.

That’s not all.

Matt Frevola will need 60 days rest before he can return from his knockout loss to lightweight phenom Marco Polo Reyes, while flyweight sensation Paige VanZant was suspended indefinitely after breaking her arm against Jessica-Rose Clark.

Everyone else was cleared to return to action at their earliest convenience.

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
