Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has rebooked the light heavyweight match up between Ovince Saint Preux and Ilir Latifi for its upcoming UFC on FOX 28 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which takes place inside Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, on Sat., Feb. 24, 2018.
Orlando Sentinel confirmed the booking on Wednesday.
The pair were originally expected to throw down at UFC on FOX 27 later this month in Charlotte, North Carolina; however, “The Sledgehammer” was sidelined by injury and forced to postpone his appearance.
Saint Preux (22-10) was mired in a dreadful 1-4 streak from 2015-17, but quickly bounced back last April with a submission win over Marcos Rogerio de Lima, then followed that up with consecutive stoppages over Yushin Okami and Corey Anderson, match ups that came together on super short notice.
“OSP” has 17 finishes in 22 wins.
After getting put away by Ryan Bader at UFC Fight Night 93, Latifi (13-5, 1 NC) returned to the win column with a unanimous decision win over Tyson Pedro at the UFC 215 pay-per-view (PPV) event back in July 2017.
“The Sledgehammer’ has captured four of his last five.
UFC on FOX 28 is still waiting for a main event following the departure of Yoel Romero (more on that here), but will still feature Jessica Andrade and Tecia Torres, who are slotted to hook ‘em up in strawweight action.
