Bellator 192: “Lima vs. MacDonald” comes to The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., this Saturday night (Jan. 20, 2018), featuring the opening bout of the promotion’s Heavyweight Grand Prix between Quinton Jackson vs. Chael Sonnen.
Bellator MMA recently revealed that referee “Big” John McCarthy would join the broadcast team before its first mixed martial arts (MMA) show on the newly-christened Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV), but that’s not the only big name hopping on board. Indeed, veteran sports broadcaster Jay Glazer is well known to both FOX NFL Sunday viewers and fans of the legendary Pride Fighting Championships promotion (via his coverage on FSN), and can often be seen hawking his “Perfect Punch” workout system on late night informercials.
Now, he’ll be a barker for Bellator in the broadcast booth, as well as provide exclusive online digital content. Bellator President Scott Coker was excited to share the news with the media in a recent press release.
“I’m excited to welcome Jay Glazer to the Bellator family. Jay’s knowledge and experience in sports television speaks for itself and he will be a great addition to our incredible broadcast team. As Bellator moves to Paramount Network, I look forward to having him involved with some of the biggest fights of the year.”
Mr. Glazer also offered a few comments of his own on joining the Bellator team.
“I have always had a tremendous passion for MMA, where the relationships you develop are unlike any other sport. And I am very fortunate to be able to continue these relationships with an incredible organization like Bellator. I’ve been friends with Scott for many years, and I am ecstatic that he brought me into the Bellator family.”
