Video: Watch Matt Hughes make emotional UFC return seven months after near-fatal train wreck

After Matt Hughes slipped into a coma following a horrific accident in which a train crashed into a pickup his was driving in June of 2017, many feared the worst for the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight champion of the world.

But after fighting and making an amazing recovery which dumbfounded many of the doctors and nurses caring for him, Hughes made a triumphant and emotional return to the promotion, as Hughes made the walk down the aisle at UFC Fight Night 124 in St. Louis, Missouri in a surprising homecoming and tribute for one of the most respected legends in the game.

Prior to walking out, UFC shared a tribute video with Georges St-Pierre and B.J. Penn talking about Matt’s legendary career and its importance to their own.

Matt then enjoyed the rest of the evening’s action cage side with longtime friend and former boss, UFC president Dana White. Indeed, watching Matt walking down the aisle on his own accord after overcoming major obstacles following his accident undoubtedly gave every fight fan a case of the feels.
