Submission! Watch Darren Elkins score comeback win, choke out Michael Johnson at UFC St. Louis

Has there ever been a more fitting nickname than Darren Elkins’ moniker of “The Damage?”

Indeed, The Team Alpha Male (TAM) fighter took a good licking at the hands of Michael Johnson in the opening bout of the main card of UFC Fight Night 124 in St. Louis, Missouri, as “The Menace” clipped Darren early and often. In fact, after the first round, it was clear Johnson was dominating the fight, as he dazed his foe on more than one occasion.

But, in the blink of an eye, the tides turned in the early moments of the second round after “Damage” scored a quick takedown to prevent Johnson from peppering him at will. Once on the mat, Darren carefully worked his attack, landing some ground-and-pound before managing to take Johnson’s back.

Once there, it was all she wrote, as Elkins sunk in a rear-naked choke. And though it wasn’t the best form, Darren secured a vice-like grip that ultimately forced Michael to tap. That is now six straight wins for Elkins, who was quick to ask for the No. 1 contender in the Featherweight division.

And it’s hard to argue with that request.
