Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was forced to cancel its main event between Demetrious Johnson and Ray Borg, scheduled for tomorrow night (Sat., Sept. 9, 2017) inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, after “The Tazmexican Devil” was struck down by illness and ruled medically unfit to compete.
All the gory details here.
As with most mixed martial arts (MMA) events, promoters are required to issue refunds when the headlining act is nixed, so UFC will make paybacks available at the point of purchase. That’s a fancy way of saying “go back to the place where you bought your tickets and ask for your money back.”
There’s a lot of that going around these days.
Taking over the UFC 215 main event will be the women’s bantamweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko, a bout that suffered the same fate back at UFC 213 when “Lioness” was felled by sinusitis.
