When top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov beat the stuffing out of Michael Johnson at UFC 205, he politely told him — mid beatdown — that he was destined for the 155-pound strap and that “Menace” would be better off tapping out.
So while “The Eagle” waits for current division titleholder and ex-pugilist Conor McGregor to make up his mind, or dare greatly enough to make good on this threat, he’s not going to start talking shit like Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee, who battle for the interim belt at 216 in October.
“I know both of them talk shit about everybody, but I don’t want this,” Nurmagomedov told MMA Junkie. “I know this. Both guys are great athletes, good fighters. I’m gonna say good luck, don’t get injured, and see you in December.”
Nurmagomedov predicts a five-round decision in favor of Ferguson.
“El Cucuy” and “Motown Phenom” are expected to headline the UFC 216 pay-per-view (PPV) fight card on Oct. 7, 2017, inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, but the winner is not guaranteed the chance to unify the titles.
Thanks to a certain “Eagle” who flies high in Mother Russia.
