Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is just that — a bantamweight — though she’s competed at featherweight during her Strikeforce days and could probably be competitive at lightweight.
Either way, the newlywed still looks puny next to some of the female wrestlers in WWE.
Look no further than her backstage confrontation with Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Bailey, who locked eyes with Rousey and “Four Horsewomen” stablemates Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke.
All three were on hand to support teammate and ex-UFC fighter Shayna Baszler in the “Mae Young Classic,” a women’s tournament designed to find the next big star in pro wrestling.
More on that tournament here.
Rousey, on hiatus from UFC, is part of a scripted storyline which involved the above dialogue (drop bag, look tough, mutter threats) and I don't think I’ve seen a performance that stiff since Old Chief Wood'nhead in 1987’s Creepshow 2.
Not that anyone in WWE cares, so long as the “Rowdy” fans keep tuning in.
The Olympian is no stranger to professional wrestling, having a run-in with WWE figurehead Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 31 back in 2015 (more on that here). After her one-off, McMahon left the door open for a potential return.
Rousey hasn’t been seen since her technical knockout loss at UFC 207 back in December and the only definitive plans she has, that we know of, is to cook breakfast for UFC heavyweight Travis Browne.
