Two former UFC women’s bantamweight title challengers will lock horns in the newly-installed flyweight division at UFC Fight Night 123 on Dec. 9 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., as Alexis Davis and Liz Carmouche meet in a rematch from their 2013 meeting, per an official promotional announcement.
Davis, 32, has gone 1-1 since returning after the birth of her child last year, which includes a submission loss to Sara McMann back at TUF 24 Finale. The 10-year veteran is long removed from her 16-second title fight loss to Ronda Rousey back in 2014 and is hoping to carve out a new future at flyweight.
Carmouche, 33, is currently riding a two-fight win streak and also looking to reestablish herself as a UFC title contender in the newly-developed flyweight faction. “Girl-Rilla” hasn’t fought more than once in a year since she went 1-2 in 2013, including a title loss to Rousey, but she holds a key TKO victory over women’s strawweight contender Jessica Andrade and adds a much-needed veteran presence in a fresh 125-pound division.
The current UFC Fight Night 123 fight card is as follows:
Liz Carmouche vs. Alexis Davis
Scott Holtzman vs. Darrell Horcher
Eryk Anders vs. John Phillips
Trevin Giles vs. Antonio Braga Neto
Carls John de Tomas vs. Alex Perez
