Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran Stefan Struve made his return to the Octagon earlier today (Sat., Sept. 2, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 115 live on UFC Fight Pass from inside the Ahoy Rotterdam arena in Rotterdam, Netherlands, when he clashed with former Bellator MMA heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov.
While Struve put it on Volkov early, landing a nasty flying knee that split the Russian’s cheek wide open, “Drago” made adjustments to his range and flipped the script on “Skyscraper” in the second and third rounds. Volkov launched sharp straight hands that snapped Struve’s head back and finally started to get out of the way of Struve’s dangerous uppercuts inside. The towering Dutchman held his own for a while before Volkov dropped him towards the end of Round 3 and forced the TKO stoppage.

With this win, Volkov locks up his third-straight UFC victory and looks to be on the fast track to title contention. The former Bellator star is still unknown among casual fight fans, but a depleted UFC heavyweight division should allow him to float to the top sooner rather than later.
