UFC Fight Night 117 results: Next matches to make for ‘Saint Preux vs. Okami’ main card winners

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to action for UFC Fight Night 117: “Saint Preux vs. Okami,” which went down Friday night (Sept. 22, 2017) inside Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan and airing live on FXX.

The promotion's latest mixed martial arts (MMA) card was headlined by a Light Heavyweight bout that saw Ovince Saint Preux absolutely dominate Yushin Okami, putting him to sleep in the very first round.

Winner: Ovince Saint Preux

Who She Should Fight Next: Jimi Manuwa

While some won’t be too thrilled to see this rematch, there really isn’t nothing else out there for “OSP” that makes sense at the moment. Saint Preux has already fought and lost to everyone else ranked above him minus Alexander Gustafssson and Daniel Cormier, two men he hasn't fought yet. Plus, he already has a win over Mauricio Rua, so that rematch doesn’t make sense anymore. While it’s highly likely that Volkan Oezdemir and Alex duke it out next for a shot at the strap, Ovince can up his stock a bit more if he can avenge his loss to “Poster Boy.”

Winner: Jessica Andrade

Who She Should Fight Next: Tecia Torres

Andrade picked up her first win after losing her championship fight against “Joanna Champion” earlier this year in what proved to be a highly-entertaining beat-down of Gadelha. Another title fight isn’t in Jessica's future just yet, so I’d like to see her face off against Tecia Torres. Tecia has won two straight and is currently ranked at No. 5. It will make for a fresh and exciting bout that could very well provide the next title challenger to face the winner of the upcoming title fight between Joanna and Rosae Namajunas, which is set to go down on Nov. 4, 2017 at UFC 217.

Winner: Dong Hyun Kim

Who He Should Fight Next: Erik Koch

Kim scored an impressive win over longtime veteran Takanori Gomi in “The Land of the Rising Sun,” handing “The Fireball Kid” his fifth consecutive loss in a rather quick manner. Up next, I’d like to see him fight Erik Koch, who was last seen dropping a unanimous decision to Clay Guida earlier this summer. Kim’s had an average run inside the Octagon thus far, so I’d like to see him build on the momentum of his won over Gomi against Koch. I like this fight, and since they can’t lobby for high-ranked foes at the moment, I don’t see why either Koch or Kim would be opposed to it.

Winner: Gokhan Saki

Who He Should Fight Next: Tyson Pedro

He promised a knockout, and he delivered, ending Henrique da Silva's night in one round via a devastating left hook. Now, Saki can set his sights on a bigger fightd for his next UFC outing after blitzing through da Silva. Tyson Pedro isn’t exactly the biggest name on the market, but he’s ranked. He recently saw his undefeated record go up in smoke against Ilir Latifi at UFC 215. But if there is one thing Pedro likes to do, is bang it out on the feet. That is right up Saki’s alley, so this fight just looks exciting on paper. A win for Pedro can put him back on track and up his ranking, stock and name value. For Saki, a win over Pedro puts him on the path to bigger and higher-ranked opponents.

Winner: Teruto Ishihara

Who He Should Fight Next: Jason Knight

Teruto picked up his first UFC win in a year after dropping two straight, by outscoring Rolando Dye in impressive fashion. A fight against Knight sounds about right. Jason failed his first BIG test inside the octagon, losing to Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214. He can get back on track with a win over Teruto, a fight like this has all the makings of an entertaining scrap. For Teruto, defeating Knight will help him build up his own stock and name value and perhaps steal his top 15 ranking, too.

Winner: Jussier Formiga

Who He Should Fight Next: Brandon Moreno

Granted, Moreno is coming off a loss, but Formiga isn't ready for any of the top 5 ranked foes at the moment. Plus, most of them are set up with other fights at the moment. That said, I really like the Moreno fight. Both are entertaining and stylistically, it will make for an all-around good bout. Plus, a win will help Formiga break into the top five. FOr Moreno, it’s an opportunity to get back on track with a win over a high-ranked opponent.
