The Octagon action spills over onto international soil later tonight (Fri., Sept. 22, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 117 live on FXX from inside the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, as former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Ovince Saint Preux welcomes former UFC middleweight title challenger Yushin Okami back to the promotion.
In preparation for the main event scrap between OSP and “Thunder,” UFC has opened up its vault and released one of Saint Preux’s best Octagon performances to date (shown above). The action revolves around OSP’s 2015 meeting with wrestler Patrick Cummins at UFC on FOX 15 in Newark, New Jersey.
Coming off a knockout victory over veteran Mauricio Rua the year before, Saint Preux wasted little time flexing his confidence and attacking Cummins with deadly force. As the first round was coming to an end, OSP blasted Cummins with a mean left uppercut counter followed by a few insurance shots on the ground. The referee jumped in and Saint Preux was awarded the knockout stoppage.
While OSP has defeated better fighters than Cummins throughout his career, this performance truly demonstrated his natural one-punch power. If can land one of these shots on an entering Okami later this evening at UFC Fight Night 117, it could spell disaster for “Thunder” and his return to UFC.
