You know it’s bad when fighters who can’t stand the sight (or smell) of Ronda Rousey, like former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, are sticking up for “Rowdy” in the media.

I guess mother really does know best.

Tate was aghast that Rousey’s trainer, Edmond Tarverdyan, suggested the newlywed return from her leave of absence to fight reigning featherweight champion Cris Cyborg, to settle a rivalry that is way past its expiration date.

From “Cupcake’s” SiriusXM radio show MMA Tonight (via MMA Fighting):

“I’m gonna give Cyborg a round of applause, because she wouldn’t look more like a bully than if she took that fight with Ronda. That would be ridiculous. It’s just nonsense to even think about that. I cannot believe that Edmond would suggest something so asinine. It’s just kind of silly. I think Edmond just wants another payday so he can try to pay off his bankruptcy issues, because Jiminy Christmas. Poor Ronda. I’m not her biggest fan, but I wouldn’t want to see her get slaughtered by Cyborg at this point in her career, either. It’s not appealing. That’s not what this sport is about. It’s about great competitive matchups and I just don’t feel like it’s even fair to ask for something like that.”

Cyborg agrees.

Rousey has not seen the win column in over two years and is coming off back-to-back knockout losses to Holly Holm (UFC 193) and Amanda Nunes (UFC 207). In addition, “Rowdy” did not look competitive in either defeat.

Which may explain this move.

Either way, the “Rousey vs. Cyborg” dream match can join the long list of “super fights” that never came to be. And based on what we saw in recent performances, that’s probably for the best.

Anyone disagree?
