The long-awaited title fight between Rory MacDonald and Douglas Lima isn’t happening soon, but rest assured it is, in fact, finally happening.

Bellator has officially set the date and place for Douglas Lima’s next title defense: Jan. 20, 2018 at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. The so far unnumbered Bellator card will put No. 1 contender Rory MacDonald into the fight he earned by beating the bricks off Paul Daley back in May.

For Lima it will be a second chance to prove himself against a newcomer who made the jump from UFC to Bellator. In his last outing, Lima scored a unanimous decision win over Lorenz Larkin in Larkin’s first fight for the promotion.

The event is tentatively being called “Bellator: Lima vs. MacDonald.” This fight itself is big enough that no other matches have been announced for the card. In fairness, nothing else needs to be.
