It was yet another late finish for rising UFC middleweight contender Anthony Smith last night (Sat., Sept. 16, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 116 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa., as the 29-year-old put an end to Cuban powerhouse Hector Lombard via third-round TKO. Smith certainly absorbed damage throughout the first two rounds, but came alive when it mattered most. “Lionheart” caught Lombard with a nasty right hand that slumped the veteran middleweight and forced the referee to jump in for the third-round knockout stoppage.

With this victory, Smith improves his divisional win streak to three (all finishes). He has now recorded back-to-back third-round knockouts and looks to be on the fast track towards a top 15 matchup. However, Smith is considering a potential move to 205 pounds in order to bypass a heavy weight cut. We shall see.
