The action started right away earlier tonight (Sat., Sept. 16, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 116 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa., as Brazilian submission specialist Gilbert Burns secured his first UFC knockout victory with a splintering second-round finish of Canadian Jason Saggo.
The two lightweights do most of their work on the ground, but their world-class grappling skills cancelled one another out and forced the fight to play out on the feet. While Burns demonstrated an evolved striking pallet in Round 1 it was the overhand right that he landed in Round 2 that put Saggo away and awarded “Durinho” with his first knockout finish since 2014.

With this win, Burns moves back into the win column at 155 pounds. The 31-year-old Brazilian is an absolute terror on the ground, but showed real strides in his striking tonight in Pittsburgh. If he can continue to harness this type of knockout power then Burns may finally cash in on the potential he possessed just a few years ago.
