Jesse Taylor yanked from UFC Fight Night 121 for potential anti-doping violation

MMA: The Ultimate Fighter-Lima vs Taylor Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight bruiser Jesse Taylor finally got his long-awaited shot at redemption, courtesy of his winning performance at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 25 Finale back in July.

See it again here.

Unfortunately, “JT Money” may have squandered that opportunity by flunking his pre-fight drug test for UFC Fight Night 121, as United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) recently informed the hulking wrester of his positive result.

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Jesse Taylor of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on August 22, 2017. Because of the proximity to Taylor’s upcoming scheduled bout in Sydney, Australia on November 18, 2017, against Belal Muhammad, Taylor has been removed from the card and the UFC is currently seeking a replacement.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Taylor. Under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

It’s been a rough summer on the drug-testing front.

Taylor (31-15) was expected to fight surging welterweight prospect Belal Muhammed on the upcoming FOX Sports 1 fight card taking place on Nov. 19, 2017 inside Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.

Who, it should be noted, was unfazed.

Fortunately for Muhammad, there is still plenty of time to find a replacement, so be sure to stay tuned to if and when that opponent is found.
