Its no secret why Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather were fighting. The fight was always about money, and they made a lot of it. With the global total buys topping 6.5 million (if we are really believing anything Dana White says about Pay-Per-View (PPV) numbers) then it broke the all-time PPV record.
Floyd thinks he will go down in the Guiness book of World Records for the feat, which probably puts his career earnings over the billion-dollar mark, and improves his record to 50-0. All of that, gained in a bout with a loquacious Irishman from another sport, in Conor McGregor, who didn’t have a single professional boxing fight.
No wonder he’s proud of it, and no wonder he’s calling it a heist. It was the perfect final caper for “Money” Mayweather.
