Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) sent another round of mixed martial arts (MMA) hopefuls into the Octagon last night (Tues., Aug. 8, 2017) as Dana White’s “Tuesday Night Contender Series” returned to The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) gym in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In the UFC Fight Pass main event, former TUF 23 light heavyweight contestant Jamelle Jones was smashed by Classic Entertainment and Sports (CES) MMA headliner Mike Rodriguez by way of flying knee.
“I stared picking up in the fight, I was hitting him with stuff, I just seen him jumping, jumping, jumping ... so I said, ‘I’m gonna flick this jab out and if he bites, I’m gonna go for a ride,” Rodriguez said after the fight. “And he bit, so I just threw that knee.”
The result was a knockout victory, along with a UFC contract.
Joining Rodriguez on the UFC roster is flyweight standout Alex Perez, who submitted Kevin Gray in the very first round by way of Anaconda choke. Check out that highlight-reel finish embedded below.
