‘Platinum’ Mike Perry is the bigger, stronger, American version of Conor McGregor

I guess that beats the bigger, stronger, Kazakhstan version of Conor McGregor.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight slugger Mike Perry has anointed himself the stateside “Notorious” for reasons not quite explained in his latest tweet, though I’m sure if you look at some of his responses, the fans have answered his question pretty thoroughly.

But hey, if Phil Davis can convince people he’s Jon Jones...

Anyway, Perry will collide with longtime veteran Thiago Alves at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 116: “Rockhold vs. Branch” event scheduled for Sat., Sept. 16, 2017 inside PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Alves (22-11) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Patrick Cote at the UFC 208 pay-per-view (PPV) event earlier this year, while Perry (10-1) recently wrecked Jake Ellenberger at UFC Fight Night 108 last April.

The winner of their 170-pound clash will no doubt move their way up the welterweight rankings (see them here), but will they move closer to McGregor in terms of popularity?

Not likely.
