Before Stefan Struve faces Alexander Volkov in the main event of UFC Fight Night 115 this weekend (Sat., Sept. 2, 2017) inside Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands, take a look back at one of “Skyscraper’s” most dominant performances. Back in 2012, Struve was in the midst of a two-fight win streak, hoping to get number three against Lavar Johnson, who at the time was making a name for himself as a one-punch knockout artist.
As usual, Johnson came out swinging haymakers looking for the early stoppage. Struve, though, managed to weather the early storm by trapping “Big” in the clinch. From there, Struve pulled guard and immediately sunk in a fight-ending armbar just two minutes into the fight.
Soon thereafter, Struve picked up a knockout win over current Heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic. Now, “Skyscraper” will look to go for three in a row to once again climb his way up the 265-pound ladder in an attempt to secure another bout against Miocic, who is now sitting pretty at the top of the mountain.
