Dana White reveals Mayweather vs McGregor did 6.5 million PPV buys worldwide

Dana White was wrong with his prediction that Conor McGregor would knock out Floyd Mayweather, but he did get another bet right.

The over / under on Mayweather vs. McGregor pay-per-view (PPV) sales was 4.99 million, and White said he expected the fight would do over. And over it did, with Dana revealing the fight did 6.5 million PPV buys.

The news comes via Sports Illustrated's Mike Dyce, who was with White backstage for his Tuesday Night Contenders Series event. Dyce posted the above video to his Instagram of White mentioning the number to 'Snoopcast' commentators Snoop Dogg and Urijah Faber.

That doesn't mean 6.5 million people payed $99.95 for the fight, though. Different markets around the world priced the fight differently, with the UK charging £19.95 and the Republic of Ireland charging €24.95. But it's hard to imagine anyone involved in the massive boxing superfight being unhappy with that final number. It certainly blows away the previous pay-per-view record held by Mayweather vs. Pacquiao at 4.6 million.
