Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes will rematch top women’s 135-pound contender Valentina Shevchenko at the upcoming UFC 215 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., Sept. 9, 2017 inside Rogers Arena in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Assuming “Lioness” can stay healthy.
In the time since their first match, both fighters have improved and found genuine success. Nunes tore through two of the best female combatants to ever compete, Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey, knocking them around and stopping them in short fashion.
Shevchenko’s wins were not quite as brutal, but she did take out a pair of top-ranked bantamweights — Holly Holm and Julianna Pena — in impressive fashion. Those wins bring us to a clear match up between the division’s top two fighters, and it should be a great scrap.
